President - Joey Compton BSN, RN, SANE A; president@ohioiafn.org

Joey started with Aultman Hospital in 2022 as the Coordinator for the Serenity Program. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a bachelor’s degree in Business. Joey has been a nurse since 2009, the focus of her nursing clinical experience is in emergency department nursing and forensic nursing/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) positions. She earned her SANE-A certification in 2020.  Joey serves as the President Elect for the Ohio Chapter International Association of Forensic Nurses and a mentor/expert SANE with the Duquesne University. She has previously served as the Chair of Executive Board for Human Trafficking Collaborative in Summit County. Joey has a passion for education and serves as the Chair for the Aultman Nursing Education Council. She is a member of multiple community based multidisciplinary teams. Joey enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and her family is a member of a waterski team.

 

President Elect - Jane Bryan, BSN, RN, SANE A; presidentelect@ohioiafn.org

Jane is a Registered Nurse and an advocate for laws that protect people against violence. She has worked as a Forensic Nurse/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital, and Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s PATH Center. Jane is SANE-A certified, and currently works for Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest and Aultman Hospital’s Serenity SANE programs.  As part of her advocacy, she has provided proponent testimony before the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee and the Ohio House Criminal Justice Committee for laws that would help protect individuals against violence.  Jane represented the Cleveland Clinic PATH Center and provided proponent testimony before the Ohio legislature in support of the elimination for the SOL for rape.  Additionally, she delivered proponent testimony on behalf of the Ohio Chapter’s International Association of Forensic Nurses for H.B. 3 and S.B. 90, which were bills that supported victims of strangulation and domestic violence.  She was previously the Director at Large for the Government Affairs Committee, Ohio Chapter’s International Association of Forensic Nurses. 


Past President - Lily Holderbaum, MSN, RN, SANE A; pastpresident@ohioiafn.org

Lily is a Clinical Nurse Manager at Cleveland Clinic Akron General PATH Center (Providing Access To Healing), the hospitals Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), and Forensic Services. She obtained a Diploma in Nursing in 2003 and started her nursing profession specializing in Emergency Nursing and Trauma. While in the Emergency Department, forensic nursing became a focus of interest. In 2007 Lily completed the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Course through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and in 2009 she obtained a certificate in Forensic Nursing through Kapan University. In 2014, Lily graduated from Ohio University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and in 2021 graduated from Walden University with her Masters of Science in Nursing. In 2015, she completed her Certification as an Adult/ Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A). She is actively involved with her community, serving on the Executive Committee for the Summit County’s Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART), Chair for the Summit County’s Sexual Assault Coalition, direct service provider for the Summit County Human Trafficking Collaborative, and at the state level Past President of the Ohio IAFN Chapter.


Treasurer - Lesa Gifford, RN, BSN FNE ; treasurer@ohioiafn.org

Lesa Gifford has been a Registered Nurse for 8 years, with over 20 years of experience in the medical field. Much of her experience is in the emergency department; however, she had the opportunity to expand her skills in surgery and in the cardiac catheterization lab as well. She has been a ForensicNurse for 6 years at Avita Health System. When the opportunity came to advance her engagement and role with forensics, she stepped into the role as the coordinator for her healthcare system which oversees 3 facilities. It has been 2 years since she stepped into this role, and she believes this is where she is meant to be, making a difference in advocacy and victim rights. She enjoys hobbies such as gardening, baking, and spending time with family. She has been married for 17 years and has 3 children and an 18- month-old grandson.

Katelyn Guidone, RN, MSN:  Katy has been a nurse since 2014. She has worked in the Emergency Department and as a Supervisor for Aultman Orrville Hospital. She started with the Aultman Forensic program - Serenity in 2017. She completed her Masters in Forensic Nursing from Aspen University in 2018. Katy is passionate and committed to quality care and patient advocacy. She is dedicated to caring for those with emergent needs and those who are survivors of sexual and domestic abuse.


Director at Large: Education and Research - Kathleen Hackett MSN, RN, SANE P; edu@ohioiafn.org

Kathleen Hackett has been a nurse for over 30 years with 20 years of emergency room
experience. Kathleen is currently the Pediatric Forensic Program Coordinator for University Hospitals, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital since its launch in 2010, in Cleveland, OH. Kathleen earned her Master of Science in Nursing (Forensic Track) at Cleveland State University in 2017.
Kathleen provides ongoing education within her medical facility and for area under graduate and graduate programs, regarding sexual abuse/assault, human trafficking, non-fatal strangulation, and trauma informed care. Kathleen also collaborates with community partners to provide better-quality care for pediatric victims of crime. Kathleen is an active participant in the Sexual Assault Advisory Board of Ohio (SAABO) representing Ohio Children’s Hospital Association since 2015, which functions through the Ohio Attorney General and Ohio Department of Health. Kathleen has created and facilitates an elective course for students attending Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio, “Introduction to Trauma Informed Care.” Kathleen is a dedicated sexual assault nurse examiner, however during downtime she enjoys gardening, bike riding, various art projects, and being a grandmother to two beautiful girls.


Director at Large: Government Affairs - Takiyah Smith DNP, MSN, MN, RN; gov@ohioiafn.org

Takiyah J Smith is known for her advocacy and passion for her work in women’s health, mental health, and forensic nursing. As a survivor of violence, Takiyah vowed to serve the community to help other survivors of sexual assault in need. Takiyah volunteered for RAINN’s online sexual assault hotline for two years before earning her Masters in Nursing in 2019 from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing Case Western Reserve University. While working as a registered nurse in Pediatrics Behavioral Health in Cleveland, she also worked as a forensic sexual assault nurse examiner in the Akron area. Working on improvements inside and outside the hospital, she served as a government affairs committee member for IAFN Ohio Chapter. She spoke as a proponent in Ohio House of Representatives for HB 161 to make martial rape a crime, HB3 to make strangulation a felony in Ohio, and HB390 that would require sexual assault forensic kits to be submitted for testing with victims of human trafficking. In 2023, Takiyah completed her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner concentration and Doctorate of Nurse Practice (DNP) programs. In 2023, she earned the Rebecca & Samuel H. Elliott Award for Outstanding Community Service from Case Western Reserve University.
