EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee facilitates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based continuing education offered by the IAFN to its members to the forensic nursing community. The Education Committee assists in planning education and skills throughout the year and is involved with the annual Ohio IAFN Conference planning. A Conference Planning Committee is an example of a subcommittee under the Education Committee. There are many opportunities to aide in the advancement of ethical, best-practice to advance our field!

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Ohio IAFN members are encouraged to voice their position on proposed policies that impact forensic nursing practice. Politicians need information and an understanding of the evidence base to help make informed decisions about how proposed policy will affect their constituents. The Government Affairs Committee will assist in keeping the Forensic Community abreast of the current legislature. The committee will disseminate information to our members and assist in engagement to impact laws that effect our survivors.

Statewide Leadership COMMITTEE

The focus for this committee is to build a statewide leadership team that can help to support forensic nursing as a profession and network with forensic nursing leaders. The meetings will be a platform for discussion, future planning, networking, and sharing safety/good catches, program updates/challenges data collection and other projects. Membership will typically be a forensic/SANE program coordinator/manager or a key leader in forensic nursing for a healthcare system.

Ohio IAFN is starting a new committee. This committee will focus on all aspects related to planning the Ohio Chapter Annual Education Conference. For 2024 the conference will be on November 8 near the Stark County area.

Sexual Assault Advisory Board of Ohio (SAABO)

SAABO meets quarterly to ensure that all survivors of sexual assault or sexual abuse have consistent access to quality medical care in the collection of evidence that meet the standard set forth in the Ohio Protocol for Sexual Assault Medical and Forensic examinations.
